Our goal
The Seaforth Highlanders of Holland Memorial Pipes and Drums was founded to honor the Canadian regiments (of which the most The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada) that liberated the Gelderland Valley and the city of Amsterdam in April and May 1945.
How do we achieve this goal?
Our band is military orientated, which is being reflected by the uniform (Seaforth McKenzie kilt, Canadian WW2 battledress jacket, black army boots and green boot wrappings), the military execution and the historical awareness of the liberation of Holland. We play on several occasions including; memorial services, parades, military tattoos, veteran reunions, open days and events for the military etc.
We also perform at local events like flower parades, fairs, weddings and anniversaries, but also at more respectful events such as funerals and cremations. You can take a look at the Calendar for more information about where you may find us. Also you can find photos and videos of previous performances at Multi-Media.
We work hard to study tunes, play together and perform at various events, but the unity of the band is of similar importance to us. We strive for the best quality in piping and drumming, with respect to the regiments of the liberation. Trying to achieve this certain level of quality and unity we do not only work together within the band, but also with other bands and groups. We are always looking for pipers and drummers with the same mindset, so there will be no egoistic tensions.
Working together with The Seaforth Highlanders Re-Enactor Group, The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Re-Enactor Group, The Canadian Scottish Pipes and Drums, The Red Rose of Lochbuie Pipes and Drums and various individual performers and (military) vehicle owners, we are open to cooperation with pipebands all over the world. Our band is a member of the Dutch Organisation for Bagpipe Bands (NOvDB).
